Here in Troglobytes, we are all born in the 1980s, surrounded by pop culture that was characterized by cheesy movie movies and classic video games. Not to mention that by looking at our little studio – the walls are organized by movie posters and we also collect vintage dances and games for that period.
We have a cabinet in the office that has Avenging Ghost running in it. One day, as we took a break from developing and retrieving our retro games, we were suddenly struck by the idea: play like a ghost with a variety of characters.
Then we ask ourselves: why not make a game with all the best things we liked since 1980: wrestlers, such as aliens, attackers, green berets, etc., combined with mechanical ownership?
With so many great options to choose from, we couldn't decide who would be the protagonist of this game, and what a HyperParasite was like: a game that can control them all!
With HyperParasite, we wanted to take players to the dark side of the 1980s: forget about heroes; in our game, you will be playing a bad guy, and good people are enemies. Have you ever dreamed of fighting with your favorite 1980s actors? HyperParasite is your game.
He is able to snatch and control any character on screen, using their unique abilities, weapons and special attacks on neon and mullet-based mega-brawl.
To get you into this space, we needed a few things: retro graphics and SynthWave music, combined with endless action, permadeath (typical of rare / rogue-lite games) and modest bosses.
The game you can now play on Playstation 4 is the result of three years of hard work; we put everything we had into it, and made it a heartfelt love letter to the 80s. Seasoned players will also hear more than one similarity with the older classics, and we're sure you'll know all the sound, and reference, features we put into this game.
