‘The Chronicles of the Grand As prosecutor‘for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC is a compilation title that includes the games’ The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures’ and’ The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve ‘. The two games weren’t released in Japan in their day and now they are doing it jointly for consoles and PC. It does so digitally, through PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, and Steam, and with display the texts in English. We had the opportunity to play a first version for PlayStation 4, testing three of the first four chapters of the first game.
The Capcom title presents us with a series of adventures that we can frame between the genres of graphic adventure and conversational adventure. Almost all of the content in the game is made up of dialogue, although it comes with accompanying characters, sets, and animations, making the stories they tell us more immersive.

In ‘The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles’ we play the role of Ryunosuke, a young lawyer with a great capacity for deduction. At certain times, few in number, it is necessary examine evidence and witnesses
Those who have played Ace Attorney for years will be well acquainted with this game pattern. Although this is a spin-off with a new protagonist (ancestor of Phoenix Wright) and having some new features like Joint Reasoning, the truth is that structurally the way of playing doesn’t change.
An open book
The stories we are told in ‘The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles’ are very dense. In a way, while we play, we have the feeling that we are read a book with pictures. Despite the fact that the images subtract a lot of text from the description of places and situations, the games do not skimp on dialogue to explain in detail, and sometimes even redundantly, the situations.
Since most of the game is based on reading, it should be noted that “The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles” is in English, it is not possible to choose another language. Despite the nature of the game, the language used is not overly technical, so any player with medium-high knowledge of the language of Shakespeare, you can appreciate it without taking too long to search for the meaning of the words. However, the game could become a real ordeal for those who only have a basic knowledge of English.
The intrigues that crop up in the various chapters of ‘The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles’ are undoubtedly the main course of this title. All script twists and new elements which are introduced gradually affecting the protagonist, draw us more and more into stories whose endings are difficult to predict in their first bars.
What is the plot of the game?
‘The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles’ is divided into two games with five chapters each. This means that while there is a chronological order of events, each of the subplots is somewhat independent: we can play more advanced chapters without much consideration for spoilers without fear. Regardless, we logically recommend that you play the chapters in the order established by the game itself.
As for the plot, we don’t want to gut you too much, so we’ll only briefly tell you the story of the first chapter. In the Ryunosuke
But if the situation is already overwhelming, greater tension will mean that the prosecution and the judge will seek a speedy trial with a maximum sentence. In a single afternoon, Ryunosuke must defend himself and show that he was not the culprit. The only help he will have will be that of his friends Kazuma, a trainee lawyer, and Susato, a legal assistant who will also help us.
Latest impressions? Remaining cases before analysis
In the three chapters that we could already enjoy, ‘The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles’ pleases us. The way he involves us in the story, making us find logical solutions to complicated situations, makes the long interactions between characters don’t get as heavy as you would with almost any other conversational adventure game.
On the contrary, the intrigues of the chapters that we played did not convince us at all in terms of plausibility. The characters take slightly childish attitudes in situations of great tension, something that makes them incredible, requiring a certain complicity on the part of the player.
In these impressions, we’ve tried to briefly tell you what ‘The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles’ felt like in our early hours of Early Access that Capcom gave us. Therefore, as soon as we have the full version of the game again we will have a lot to play and enjoy before deciding in the form of analysis.
