After years and years of work, a YouTuber named Rivero finally finishes his recreation of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Minecraft.
Minecraft continues to be an overwhelming force on the gaming landscape. Just yesterday, Minecraft reached more than 600 million active users, of which 400 million came from users in mainland China.
With such a large player base, the Minecraft community continually creates amazing content around the game. Now, one player has recreated the entirety of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Minecraft, including items, boss fights, and more.
Minecraft fan builds and recreations are one of the most popular projects for members of the game community. Many of those fan builds revolve around the recreation of iconic locations and pieces from other popular video games. Earlier this summer, a player recreated the Gulag from Warzone in Minecraft. However, Rivero on YouTube may be responsible for one of the most impressive Minecraft recreations ever made.
Rivero laid out his plans to recreate The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in 2013. According to an interview with PCGamesN, Rivero began construction in 2013 on Xbox 360. However, three years later, Rivero decided to scrap that version and rebuild it using the version for Minecraft PC. Now, after seven years of construction, Rivero has finally finished recreating the entirety of Ocarina of Time within Minecraft, and is releasing it for free for players to download. Rivero has even uploaded a launch trailer with a download link in the description.
By downloading this world build, players can travel from the Kokiri forest of Ocarina of Time to the final fight against Ganondorf. What makes this build even more impressive is that it was completed with Vanilla Minecraft, meaning that no modifications of any kind were used to create or shape the existing game world. Rivero used Minecraft’s handy command blocks to pull off many of the incredibly impressive mechanics present throughout the build. Rivero also has a full timeline of his build on his Discord server, documenting his progress over the years.
Needless to say, this is undoubtedly one of the most impressive fan builds in Minecraft history. Ironically, it brings together two companies that have started working together lately, specifically surrounding Minecraft with all things. Nintendo and Xbox have partnered with Minecraft in the past, and recently Steve from Minecraft as a DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Perhaps this stunning recreation of Ocarina of Time will spawn even more amazing Nintendo-themed builds in Minecraft.
Minecraft is available now for mobile devices, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
