Madden NFL 21 comes alive for their latest collaboration event. This time around, EA Sports is partnering with Spongebob Squarepants for something very strange.
Madden NFL 21 has seen quite a few different brands and non-football related stars throughout the year. Once the EA Sports team revealed their new The Yard mode, you knew they would have several collaborations in the works. However, I have to say that I didn’t expect to see SpongeBob making an appearance. Today, the team announced that SpongeBob and his big yellow head will soon be “in the game,” which I’m sure makes someone very excited. Check it out.

Look, I’m not going to envy you if you really want to have SpongeBob uniforms or whatever in Madden NFL 21, but it’s pretty silly. And if that’s the team’s goal, why not go all the way? They should put Patrick in the game as nose tackle and give him a juicy player card in Ultimate Team. Or let Mr. Krabs train your team in career mode. Let’s be really stupid about this crossover event.
Really, they could. The tweet doesn’t actually say what parts of Madden SpongeBob it will hit. I assume it’s just The Yard, but who knows? Maybe I’ll get my wish for a terrifying monstrosity to invade your backfield in the form of a realistic Patrick star. We will know soon.
Madden NFL 21 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Whatever it is, SpongeBob will go live on January 7. Check back then to see if they have added more nightmare fuel to the game.
