In this blog post, I will bring you the latest information regarding the recently announced online gaming features and additional bonuses included in Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. Before that, let me introduce the Mega Man Battle Network series to you.
The Mega Man Battle Network series is set in Network Society, where advanced network technology connects and powers everything from home appliances to city infrastructure. This system is generally referred to as “the cyberworld” and has become part of the daily lives of citizens of the networked society.
People carry Personal Terminals, or PETs – mobile devices loaded with sensitive programs called NetNavis. PETs and NetNavis allow users to take advantage of the many benefits offered by the network by “plugging in,” a process of connecting their PETs to various devices.
Although advanced network technology has improved the daily lives of many people around the world, it has also brought new opportunities for cybercrime. The protagonist, Lan Hikari, and his NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE, must work together to solve a recent wave of cybercrime incidents.
Battles ensue as you encounter susceptible viruses in the Cyberworld. The player can move MegaMan.EXE freely in the 3×3 red grid while the enemies move and attack from the blue area. MegaMan.EXE can also use Battle Chips to his advantage against enemy programs! Battle Chips have multiple uses including recovering HP, dealing damage to enemies in unique ways, and much more. Get in on the Battle Network action and strategize when and how to use the various Battle Chips that are at your disposal.
The Battle Network Legacy Collection contains 10 classic games, including different versions of the main games in the series, from Mega Man Battle Network to Mega Man Battle Network 6.
Now on to the new online features! Players can enjoy NetBattling and one-on-one Battle Chip Trading with distant NetBattlers by connecting to the Internet. You can access online features through the in-game submenus within each game.
In the NetBattle menu, you can choose either “Training” to enjoy battles casually, or “Real Thing” battles where the winner takes a Battle Chip from the loser’s backpack. You can also choose “Triple Battle” where games are decided on the best of three matches, “Version Battle” which preserves the rules of the original games, and more.
“Private Match” lets you play with distant friends by entering a room code.
In “Public Match” you can also play ranked matches with remote NetBattlers.
In the “Trade” menu, you can trade battle chips, styles, programs, and folders based on the original versions of each game. You can choose Private Trade to trade with your friends, or Public Trade, which will let you to trade with NetBattlers around the world.

Let’s not forget the Download Chips! Download Tokens are special battle tokens that were originally distributed in very specific ways, such as at in-person events held in Japan. A total of 15 download tokens are included in Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection.
Several very rare and unique chips are included.
Finally, let’s move on to the Custom PET Pack. The Custom PET Pack is a DLC containing special skins and songs with special arrangements. Special skins change the appearance of the 3D MegaMan.EXE that guides you through the Legacy Collection. There are also four songs with special arrangements that can be played in the music player. The personalized PET pack will be available as a pre-order bonus. Be sure to get it!
In Vol.1, Hub Style will be available for 3D MegaMan.EXE, and two songs with special arrangements will be added to the music player.
In Vol. 2, Dark MegaMan will be enabled for 3D MegaMan.EXE, plus two additional songs with special arrangements in the music player.
