With the 2020 Olympics taking place in Tokyo, Japan, we’ve seen quite a lot of references to our favorite series ranging from musical backgrounds with openings to anime-inspired routines.
We saw it with the game Venezuela vs Japan, in which the first opening of ‘Haikyuu’ could be heard after the local team scored their first point and which pushed them to victory with a 3-0 score in favor.
Later it was the turn of the gymnast Alexa Moreno, the representative of Mexico who delighted all the spectators with a routine accompanied by the main theme of ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie Mugen Ressha-hen’, Homura.
Now that we are in the second week of the games, the competitors continue to drive the trend and this time it is the artistic swimming athletes Nuria Diosdado and Joana Jiménez who hold the torch.
The swimmers performed on August 2 with a routine inspired by ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, the hit Nickelodeon series that has now made its way to new horizons.
Diosdado and Jiménez wore bathing suits on the back of which the pictograms of the four elements of the series stand out, while on the back they shine with the representation of Tui and La, the moon and the ocean.
These spirits, represented on the physical plane as Koi fish, dance in circles, as a demonstration of the balance between life and death or what we know better as Ying and Yang.
The entire presentation was based on the history of the northern water tribe, one among the many that left a mark on the viewers of ‘Avatar’ and which is now recorded in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
