Beyond a Steel Sky finalmente will come to consoles after it was a few months available exclusively on iOS and PC. Revolution Software’s game is one of the most anticipated sequels in the industry, the first part was released for AMIGA in 1994 and since then many have waited for a continuation of the story.
And the original title was a graphic adventure that received excellent reviews for its writing, world and variety of locations. One of those involved in the project was Dave Gibbons, known primarily for drawing and designing various Watchmen characters with Alan Moore.
Revolution returns
Gibbons, who returned as creative director at age 79 for this sequel, commented as follows:
Revolution has earned an excellent reputation for writing clever adventure games that combine great drama with humor, leaving players wondering whether to laugh, gasp, or both. I am delighted with the result of Beyond a Steel Sky: it exceeds my expectations in every way ”.
Beyond a Steel Sky did not receive as good reviews as the first part but the general opinion is that it does justice to the cult game that is Beneath a Steel Sky. The sequel uses 3D graphics and adapts many of the playable mechanics to the present, although the story remains on the same level as before. Today it is seen as a Telltale adventure, although it is advisable to play Beneath a Steel Sky first.
Luckily, Revolution shared the source code for that game and it’s free on Steam and GOG, so if you’re finding out about this franchise and you’re interested in playing the sequel on PS4, Switch, or Xbox One, you can try the first one. part first on any PC.
Beyond a Steel Sky is coming to the aforementioned consoles in the fall.
