On Paper Beast, I want the player to feel like they are the world's first female spy. Here's how we created this game: like a trip to a unique wilderness where no one ever set foot.
The game leads you to get meat and flowers made of origami paper, wrought iron, coral … Some things seem normal, like water and sand, and some come from above, like creatures.
As you pass through the game, you solve puzzles and obstacles, you get a lot of surprises. Creatures help the player progress on their journey more precisely, without voice, because the narrative of the game is not verbal.
He shared common goals with these animals: to develop and emerge from this world. You will tie a strong bond as you interact and move together.
This is also how we organized the levels: like travel, migration.
The challenge has been to create a reliable wilderness. Because of our imitation of bone, animals move as though they had muscles and bones.
This technology is at the core of the game: the engine calculates the creature's movements in real time to allow them to respond to every player's actions. The creatures will also be able to direct their movement to the geographical area and the obstacles along their path.
In this trailer we introduce how a player can use the power of space to solve certain puzzles, such as a creature you pull to help build a dam on the sand on the water. The ground and various objects automatically adapt to the player's actions. Everything is calculated in real time by the game engine. One of the things you can see in the video is that when you move the sand ball, it leaves a trace.
The video focuses on a specific part of the game where the player helps the metal creatures climb a slippery slope. The player includes the help of sand and nearby plants to move them. They exploit their environment to help them thrive. As soon as they get to their destination, the creatures use the fruit from the tree to fly, wrapping up the player as to how they will proceed.
The adventure you are about to live is unique, full of surprises and unexpected events. That's why Paper Beast is a true VR odyssey.
