It is no secret to anyone that the most important Atlus franchise is the Persona series.

The spinoff of the extensive Megami Tensei family of titles has far exceeded the scope of the original series, especially in the West, with installments becoming increasingly popular with gamers on this side of the world.

It was difficult not to happen, being a series that little by little has mutated from being a JRPG with anime elements, to being practically an interactive series with more and more options to attract more and more fans.

Today the result of that growth has been announced, when it was announced that the entire saga has sold 15 million copies for life. Behind the recent Atlus earnings report into the public domain, this figure was confirmed along with the sales of its recent releases.

Success grows

The update of the sales of their latest games has left the figures as follows:

  • Persona 5 Royal (PS4): 1.8 million copies sold (Following 1.4 million reported in July 2020)
  • Persona 5 Strikers (PS4, Switch, PC): 1.5 million copies sold (after 1.3 million reported in April 2021)
  • Persona 4 Golden (PC) – 900,000 copies sold (after 500,000 reported in July 2020)

All these figures speak of a growing interest in Atlus’ stellar work, especially when one takes into account the number of obstacles that the series normally has to reach the West.

From the company they declared that they are very proud of the roots of the series outside of Japan, since it exceeded all their expectations and has opened the doors to a more promising future. With its intention to offer its games in simultaneous releases with Japan, the Persona series will likely continue to expand its dominance in the coming years in every corner of the world.
