As we reach the end of 2020, the conversation inevitably turns to those long-awaited Game of the Year lists. With that in mind, Sony seeks to ensure that its fans make their voices heard, as the public vote for the PlayStation Blog Game of the Year is already open.
In a new blog post, Sony says that the polls for the 2020 winners are now live. There are 17 categories in total, and players will be able to vote through them until 11:59 PM PT on Sunday, December 13. After that, PlayStation will count the votes and reveal the winners “later in the month.”
The 17 award categories are aimed at players in the current PlayStation family. In addition to awards dedicated to development aspects such as graphics, accessibility, and sound design, there are awards for the best examples of the major genres, as well as console-specific awards: you can choose winners for VR, PS4, and Game of the Year from PS5, as well as choosing the game that makes the best use of the DualSense control.
There are dozens of games represented in all of those categories, but if precedent is something to go through, it’s safe to assume that The Last of Us Part II could pick up at least some of these awards. It is nominated in nine categories, with a tenth recognition to developer Naughty Dog as Studio of the Year. Given the game’s success at the Golden Joystick Awards earlier this year and their nominations at The Game Awards, Ellie and Abby could have another shot at success.
