PlayStation Underground has had the honor of presenting unot from early gameplay videos from NieR: Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, a few weeks ago we were able to see the first one in one of the initial areas of the game and now we can see an important passage in history.
Specifically the moment when the protagonist gets the companion for the rest of the game, the Grimoire Weiss, played by Liam O’Brien. For their part, Kristen and Tim from PlayStation Underground shared several GIFs of the video they presented, there is combat, exploration, puzzles and some cutscenes.
Combat and exploration
NieR: Replicant is a reimagining of the first NieR that was released in 2010. It could be considered a Remake but Square Enix promises that we will see the same content, only adapted to current graphics and playable standards. It is obvious that the success of its sequel, NieR: Automata, led them to reimagine the initial title, in addition, it seems that this means the arrival of more titles in the franchise.
The first NieR was different depending on the region and the console, in Japan it was launched with a young protagonist in search of his sister, while in the West it was a veteran warrior in search of his daughter. This time we will have to play with the boy, although some leaked icons suggest that the protagonist in Japan would return in one way or another.
In the gameplay we can see how our protagonist advances through what seems to be an ancient castle, remember that the saga is located on Earth, but several millennia after human extinction. Therefore, one of the main characteristics is seeing the characters go through places built by humans without really knowing what they are.
In this castle you will get several enemies in shadow form, something that, according to Reid Taguchi, Square Enix’s head of marketing, will be very recurrent since they are the most numerous enemies. Halfway through there is a simple environmental puzzle and more enemies, all this prepares us for two final enemies that will put the hack and slash and shooting mechanics to the test.
NieR: Replicant ver.1.22474487139… will be released on April 23rd on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Below you can see the gameplay of the title on a base PS4.
