A new rumor points to the growth of the partnership between Sony and Netflix going forward.
According to insider Steve Moser, a new project called “Shark” is part of the streaming platform’s initiative to fully enter the world of video games. Images prepared for the application post in the iOS App Store show this address.
PlayStation enters this equation by having part of its games (specifically Ghost of Tsushima) as well as interface and details that show the DualSense of PlayStation 5 as the central star of this project.
Moser associates the situation with the Netflix hires of former Electronic Arts executive figures, with the intention of growing their vision of video games, but there are no further confirmed details, so it is only speculation so far.
According to media like Comicbook.com, it is believed that this vision, capable of unifying these two titans, would be focused on competing head-on and directly with the Xbox Game Pass platform.
A relatively solid idea given the popularity and stability of Microsoft’s subscription system, especially because of the range of options it offers and which, sadly for Sony, does not have much room to compete.
Therefore, being able to operate in conjunction with Netflix and reach another kind of audience and reach more spaces would be essential. Especially if it is appreciated that PlayStation Plus continues to be an insular platform, invariably anchored to the spaces of its consoles.
For Netflix, entering the video game industry without the backing of one of the strong companies in the middle would be a completely self-destructive act. Something quite evident in the case of Google Stadia and something that the streaming platform is surely aware of.
Until there are no confirmations, there is nothing to do except wait.
