Hi all! TamTu from the Vertigo Games Community Team here! For After the Fall, we’re SO CLOSE to launch, SO CLOSE! Being able to tell you more about the game is very exciting and we can’t wait to see you in the game when it releases next week on December 9, so let’s see what that means for PlayStation VR gamers.
PvP in depth
Along with the 4-player co-op PvE content that is at the heart of After the Fall, we recently unveiled the “Tundradome” arena as an additional activity where players can compete in 4v4 Team Deathmatch PVP! We know from experience that playing with friends isn’t always easy (I’m a pretty tough occasional raider), so having the ability to vent lingering frustrations is exactly what the Tundradome has to offer.
Welcome to the Tundradôme
Previously part of combat training, the discovery of humans able to revive themselves via boosters and extend their lives has led to a darker form of entertainment.
Whether it’s to remove frustration or ease tension between the Harvest Runners, they’re urged to keep their skills sharp against opponents who aren’t as predictable as the Snowbreeds. If they dare, the Runners can settle debates with live ammo in the Tundradome. Harvest Runners from all over Los Angeles gather here to test their skills and for survivors, fighters and non-combatants alike, these neo-gladiatorial battles are the contact sport of this era.
Broadcast on the various hubs, it is perfumed with the spectacle, and it is the occasion for the Harvest Runners to become legends of the arena.
How it works
At launch, After the Fall will launch with 2 Tundradome arenas for quick player versus player battles in Team Deathmatch. You can access a lobby through the social hub’s enrollment machines, either solo, where you’ll be paired up with other players, or with a pre-made squad of 4 to take on another squad.
Players are free to decide how they want to fill an 8-player lobby, whether it’s friends only or random players running around our 32-player social hub. You will also be able to go against Harvest Runners on other supported platforms via cross play!
Combat
Players are stripped of their gear and appear in every match with the basic service pistol. Then it’s up to you to find other weapons around the map before your opponent, to gain the advantage. The team that reaches the elimination goal (or that has the most eliminations before the time runs out) wins the match!
Harvest Runners won’t be the only thing you come across; Snowbreed will occasionally appear in maps as well, so keep your head on a pivot.
The Tundradome will be expanded with more modes and maps after launch, and we hope you enjoy getting into this mode for a change of pace in After the Fall. Your feedback will be extremely valuable to us in shaping the future of PVP in this game.
Enough about taking out other players, let’s see how After the Fall controls on PlayStation VR to take down your enemies alive and undead!
On PlayStation, we support the PS VR Aim controller, DualShock 4 controller, and both PlayStation Move controllers! We wanted to make sure the game was as accessible as possible and supported everyone’s preferred playstyle. Take a look at the control diagrams:
After launch, we will further refine the orders based on your feedback.
To look forward
Future After the Fall updates will certainly involve the PlayStation 5 in one form or another, but it’s too early for us to share anything on that just yet. As we prepare for the December 9 launch, we’re still on the bridge to make the current version run as smooth as possible. We see your excitement for the title and look forward to facing the frozen apocalypse with you next week.
Until then … stay freezing!
