A few months ago we reported that Fantastico Studio was working with Italian director Ruggero Deodato to create a title called Cannibal. This game would be a ‘spiritual sequel’ to the director’s cannibal trilogy, to which the infamous movie belongs. Cannibal holocaust (which, by the way, was filmed here in Colombia).
Now, the studio has presented a new trailer for this production, but its name is no longer Cannibal. His name has changed and is now called Borneo: A Jungle Nightmare.
This trailer does not reveal anything about the gameplay of the title. Instead it shows a good deal of concept art. Some of these images are quite strong and make it clear that it will be quite a violent game.
Cannibal holocaust It was part of a series of Italian films from the 1970s and 1980s about cannibalism in wild areas of the world. They were films full of sex and ‘gore’ quite controversial that also abused racist stereotypes against the natives. The Deodato movie that inspired this game was banned in several countries because of its harshness.
Borneo: A Jungle Nightmare It will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mac in the third quarter of 2021.
