PlayStation’s semi-official mascot could be back. According to a recent leak, Sony Entertainment Interactive would soon announce a new game starring Astro Bot for PS5.
Astro Bot is the small and adorable robot protagonist of the exclusive PSVR game Rescue Mission and the excellent PS5 launch title Astro’s Playroom, which pays tribute to the history of PlayStation. Since then, players have been eagerly awaiting the return of this saga of fun platform titles.
That could happen very soon.
Bilbill-kun, the well-known tipster who usually reveals what the PS Plus games are every month before the official announcement, attacked again. According a publication of his on the French page Dealabsthe Team Asobi studio is preparing a new game in the Astro universe that could simply be called “Astro Bot”.
He added that it would take place in a desert and that it has new characters such as a robot shaped like a fennec fox. They are almost certain that it will be released exclusively on PS5 and that it will not be a virtual reality title for PSVR2, but they cannot be 100% sure of the latter.
PlayStation is supposedly preparing a special ‘State of Play’ presentation that we would see in the last week of May or the first weeks of June. If it’s true, it’s very likely that this is where they’ll officially announce this rumored Astro Bot game.
