Defeating the monsters on the hunting board overseen by the Nectar moogle is a great way to get lots of experience points, renown, and rare materials to craft gear. How to unlock the hunting board
The hunting board cannot be accessed until we reach the point in the story where we can visit the second hideout. On the terrace, near Otto, we can see the board guarded by the Moogle Nectar, but if we talk to him he will tell us that it is not ready yet.
The hunting board will be unlocked once we complete the first hunt. During the Liberation story mission, in which we face the Black Shields after the attack on Martha’s Rest (Shady Clouds), we will meet Ariman on the road. Returning to the hideout after this encounter and talking to Nectar will give us access to the hunting board.
How the hunting board works FFXVI
Initially we will only see three hunting missions available, but as we progress through the plot of the game by completing main missions, more will appear. It is not possible to select a mission from the board. The only thing we can do there is take note of the place where the notable enemy appears that we want to hunt to go to that area.
Rewards are automatically awarded upon defeating each enemy. It is not necessary to return to the board for it to count as completed.
It’s a good idea to hunt the enemies as they appear on the board, since this way we will get very good experience and the items we need to forge the best swords and armor at each point in the game. However, it is entirely possible to continue the story of Final Fantasy XVI without following this notable enemies guide and ignoring the hunt board.
Some side quests require you to hunt down some of the monsters that are added to the board. There are also two PlayStation trophies that can be earned by hunting these beasts: Victoria notable (defeat 10 notable enemies from the hunting board) and The biter bit (Defeat all 32 notable enemies on the hunting board.)
Finally, we recommend unlock the chocobo before you start hunting these enemies. That will help make going through the scenarios much faster.
