Are you looking for an excuse to relive the adventure of Kratos and his son Atreus? Here it is. On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, God of War Ragnarok received a free update on both PS4 and PS5 that adds new armor to the game, the long-awaited ‘New Game+’ option, and more.

new game+ in God of War Ragnarok

We can now start the game again with all the equipment and improvements that we had after defeating Odin, including the Draupnir Spear. The only thing we won’t start with is Atreus’s cursed and sonic arrows, which will automatically unlock upon reaching certain points in the story.

When playing a New Game+ in God of War Ragnarok we will discover that enemies will be more powerful. Fortunately we also have a new level of power. We can improve all our equipment (armor, weapons, weapon components and shields) up to level 9

To unlock the New Game+ option we must finish the game for the first time.

New armor and equipment

• Black Bear Armor: His statistics are concentrated in Strength and Defense. Rewards last-second evasions with a shower of Bifröst shards. We will start with it equipped when playing a New Game+ for the first time.
• spartan armor: This armor cannot go up to power level 1. It is a “challenge” armor that we can equip when we want more difficulty. It can be bought with silver in the shop.
• Aspes Spartan shield: It is similar to Guardian’s Shield, but with a lower block time. Successful blocks deal more damage to enemies.It can be bought with silver in the shop.
• Ares Armor: This is the same armor from the previous game. We receive increased rage and a bigger explosion when activating a health stone, which can appear when hitting an enemy. It can be bought with silver in the shop.
• Zeus’s Armor: This armor also returns from the previous game. Significantly increases runic and melee damage, but also damage taken. Awarded for defeating Gná and completing the remains of Asgard in a New Game+

We also have new armor color schemes and styles in the Metamorphosis menu that can be applied to any level 9 armor. The new appearance of the Berserker Armor can be acquired by defeating the Berserker King in NP+.

new enchantments

Thanks to the golden coins that we will get in God of War Ragnarok By upgrading armor, weapons, weapon components, and shields to level 9 in New Game+ after the April 5 update, we can acquire new enchantments. These are known benefits of armor and rounds of shields that we can equip on our amulet.

Thanks to this we can create more versatile ‘builds’ for Kratos. Defeating the Berserker souls in NP+ will also reward us with new enchantments to equip

Finally we have the loads, a new set of enchantments with detrimental effects to further increase the difficulty. They can be purchased at the store.

Other news of the April update in God of War Ragnarok

• We will be able to upgrade existing mod badges with PE.
• New platinum level of task rewards.
• Nornir Chests will provide Yggdrasil Dew to further boost stats.
• The Niflheim Combat Arena in NP+ offers new options. We can choose between Atreus and Kratos with different companions, including Freya, Brok, Sindri, Angrboda, Ingrid, Thor and Thrúd.
