It’s incredible to think of such a large number, but it’s true that this game inspired by the Chinese legend of the Monkey King has 107 bosses. It’s not mandatory to fight all of them and some are very well hidden, but it’s worth defeating them to get special items and unique transformations. In this guide we’re going to see what the optional and secret bosses are in Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong and how to find them.
So that we understand each other better, let’s divide the bosses Black Myth: Wukong in three types: mandatory, optional and secretMandatory bosses are those that we have to defeat to advance in the plot, optional bosses are those that are on the main path or on secondary routes, but are not well hidden and we can ignore them. Finally, secret bosses are those that require special actions on our part to be unlocked.
All bosses in chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong
Mandatory bosses
We are not going to spend much time on these enemies, as all players will have to face them during their time in the game. They are the following:
- Bull Guard
- Lingxuzi
- Guangmou
- Noble in White
- King of the Black Wind
- Black Bear
Optional bosses
Guangzhi
It’s true that this boss is optional, but the transformation spell we get when we defeat him is so useful that it becomes practically mandatory.
We found it in Wolf’s Forest / Out of the ForestFrom the teleport point we follow the path to the right as indicated in the first photo. Then, instead of following the main path to where the wandering spectre is, we continue behind the tree and finally through the temple door. This is not the only way to get there, but it is one of the most direct.
By defeating him we will obtain the Guangzhi transformation spellThis tremendously useful skill allows us to make quick and powerful fire element combos that will help us a lot against all the upcoming bosses.
Wandering Specter
This enemy is located in the Forest of the wolveson the main road between Out of the woods and the Temple of Guanyin where we find Lingxuzi. However We do not recommend facing it at that time because it would be very difficult..
It’s best to keep going, but not forget about him. Once we defeat Guangmou, we should have enough experience and level to make the fight easier.
By defeating him we get the Spirit of the Wandering Specter. This is very useful in the early chapters because it increases defense, deals massive damage, and can be used to break walls and access secret areas.
Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang
The first giant frog we face is found in Bamboo Forest / Snake Path.
To find it, we have to advance from the teleportation point in this area until we descend the mountain along the wooden path seen in the image. Instead of continuing along the main route, we return over the river until we find the boss.
When we defeat him we will get the Spirit of Baw-Li-Guhh-Langbut it is not as useful as the wandering spectre.
Secret Bosses
Ancient Jinchi
To be able to face the first of the secret optional bosses of Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong you must follow this guide and ring three bells which are spread throughout the mountain.
- The first one is in the arena where we fought Guangzhi in the Wolf Forest (Outside the forest). To get there, we move forward from the teleportation point in the area and take the path on the right. Then we ignore the path of the wandering spectre to continue behind the tree and finally through the temple door. This is not the only way to get there, but it is one of the most direct.
- The second bell can be reached after Guangmou in the Bamboo Forest, back of the hills. Instead of following the main path, we head deeper into the forest from the combat arena as seen in the first image. At the end of the short path we will find the bell.
- To ring the third and final bell we have to Defeat the White Noble first in the White Mist Swamp. Then, instead of going through the door, we follow the path on the left to the bottom, where we will find the bell.
Upon ringing the third bell, we will be transported to the secret area Ancient Guanyin Temple, where we will have to defeat the secret boss Elder Jinchi.
By defeating him we will obtain the Fireproof Coating. This artifact is extremely useful to face the final boss of chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong (Kuai Black Bear), so we recommend getting it before going to face it.
Red Loong
The second and last of the secret optional bosses in Chapter 1 is very well hidden. In fact, it is so well hidden that in order to enter its lair we first have to progress quite far in Chapter 2.
The first thing we have to do is reach the fight against the optional boss of chapter 2 First Prince of the Rippling Sands. During the fight we will notice a curious wall with high reliefs of Buddha in the combat arena.
What we have to do is lure the boss towards the wall so he can break it with one blow the use the ability of the spirit Wandering Specter to make a crack in it.
Inside the new room we will find a chest with an object called Loong scales.
With this object in our possession, we return to an altar and teleport to Wolf Forest, Outskirts of the Forest and we follow the path on the left. We turn left again when we reach the chest and then we follow the river to the waterfall.
Upon reaching the waterfall, we will have the option of Examine the place and use the Loong scales. This will open a rift that we can cross to reach a secret location.
Don’t be fooled by the fact that the Red Loong secret boss is from one of the starting areas of Black Myth: Wukong, as he’s quite difficult. If you’re skilled enough to defeat Stone Vanguard and Tiger Vanguard in Chapter 2 and have some protection from electric attacks, you should be able to defeat him.
In case you are curious about the name ‘loong’, simply is the Chinese word for a dragon.
We hope this guide with all the optional bosses and secrets of chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong found it useful.
