During Capcom’s 45th annual general meeting of shareholders, a question that is often asked by fans of the blue bomber came up again. This question, which was asked this year by one of the attendees, is whether Capcom has plans for the franchise. Mega Man.
A diplomatic response
Capcom’s response to the question was straight to the point.Mega Man It is one of our highly valued intellectual properties and we are considering how to create games for it on an ongoing basis.
Capcom’s response, far from making fans happy, does not surprise them. Since, this is the same response that Capcom gave about a year ago. However, in last year’s response Capcom indicated that future releases of Mega Man They rely on “developing a solid concept, ideas, and gameplay.” They also mentioned that future ports of back-catalog titles would involve “addressing technical issues.”
During Capcom’s general shareholders meeting this year another investor asked if the results of Capcom’s Super Elections, in which Mega Man was a very popular candidate, they influence decision making on new projects. Capcom responded:
«We value all of our franchises and are looking at ways to use them not only in games, but in other media as well. In the case of games, we believe that the playability and specific appeal of an IP are important. We take a multifaceted approach to our games, including new titles, remakes, ports
So in a nutshell, Capcom is aware of the popularity of Mega Man And just like with other franchises that have a gigantic legacy behind them, they will continue to evaluate the development of new games. In addition, the Japanese developer confirms that we will continue to see the blue bomber in different media.
