On November 30, 2021, the bedrock and java versions of Minecraft received a new update patch ‘Caves and Cliffs Part 2’ that brought them to version 1.18 We are going to know all the changes and improvements that came to the game.
Highest height and depth in the world
The height and depth of the worlds have been extended to Y = 320 and Y = -64, opening up more space to explore and build. Existing worlds can be updated to include the new dimensions and functions. There will be a natural environmental transition to the new biomes.
New generation of terrain and mountains
The shape and elevation of the terrain are no longer necessarily determined by the biome. That means they can be combined to create follies like hilltop deserts. Mountains are taller than ever and can now be spawned with a maximum height of 256 blocks.

- Prairies

New types of noise caves in update 1.18 ‘caves and cliffs part 2’ of Minecraft: large open ‘cheese style’ caves; ‘spaghetti style’, wide and with tunnels; and the narrow and winding ‘noodle style’ caves. Aquifers were also added that create bodies of water such as flooded caves or underground lakes.
Ore distribution and large ore veins
These long formations extend through cave systems and contain mineral deposits larger than the groups generally found underground. The ore distribution has been adjusted to compensate for the new global height.
Monster generation
Monsters will now only appear in complete darkness.
New music
They added new music by Lena Raine and Kumi Tanioka. The “Otherside” disc can be found in the chests of the fortress corridor or, rarely, in the chests of the dungeons.

New achievements / trophies
- Caves and cliffs: fall from the top of the world (building limit) to the bottom of the world and survive
- Feels Like Home: take a walk by a lava lake
- Sound of Music: Bring the meadow to life to the sound of jukebox music
- Star Trader: trade with a villager at the building height limit
Candles
These light sources can be made from a honeycomb and a piece of string. They can be dyed to change their color. You can also add one on top of an uneaten cake.

Vanilla experiments
Added a new experimental mode “Vanilla Experiments” containing some blocks and elements of the ‘Wild’ update, coming in 2022.

‘Ancient’ world type
Removed the “Ancient” world type from the world creation screen. Existing ancient worlds are still playable, but will not be updated with 1.18 features
Android external storage
Players with external storage will be migrated to a new location at startup due to storage changes required by Google. Because of this, your data will be lost if you uninstall Minecraft Unless you check the box indicating that you want to keep your data.
