PlayStation presented a new State of Playthe special event dedicated to showing the news that will arrive in 2024. This year’s edition focuses on games for PS5 and PS VR 2, the virtual reality system for the current generation console.
The State of Play comes one day after PlayStation’s new CEOs, Hideaki Nishino and Hermen Hulst, discussed the company’s future plans.
The new era contemplates simultaneous releases on PC for games as a service (Helldivers 2), while narrative adventures will stay longer on PS5 consoles. Another important issue is support for the PlayStation VR 2, the virtual reality glasses that are close to offering support for PC.
The first to come on stage was Concord, the new PvP multiplayer FPS from Firewalk Studios coming to PS5 and PC. The game was announced a year ago at the PlayStation Showcase with a small teaser and today it showed two trailers: one cinematic with narrative and another focused on gameplay.
Concord (PS5, PC)
Concord It’s a team-based shooter Overwatch where we will choose characters of various classes. The gameplay is frenetic in circular arenas with various obstacles and areas where we can deploy support gadgets. Concord will be available August 23 on PC and PS5.
God of War Ragnarok (PC)
The port of God of War Ragnarok para PC It’s official and it will arrive on September 19, 2024. To celebrate, PlayStation presented a new trailer with all the exclusive features of the computer version.
Alien: Rogue Incursion (PS VR 2)
And Alien Isolation terrified you, wait to play Alien: Rogue Incursion, a game for PS VR 2 coming this year. Developed by Survios, the title offers A single-player adventure with a completely new story located on the planet Purdan. Alien: Rogue Incursion uses the Unreal Engine 5 and promises random behavior of the Xenomorphs, so that the gameplay is not linear.
Marvel Rivals (PS5, PC)
Marvel Rivals, the new PvP shooter based on superhero teams from the Marvel Universe will premiere on PlayStation 5. The game is developed by NetEase Games and has all the potential to become a success, as long as it is well balanced and does not exceed micropayments. The owners of a PS5 will have access to a private beta.
Path of Exile 2 (PS5, PC)
If you are a Diablo fan, you probably know Path of Exile, an action RPG that rescues the best of Blizzard’s game. The good news is that PS5 users will be able to enjoy its sequel, Path of Exile 2, this same year. The game will feature cross-play and best of all, cross-progression.
Silent Hill 2 (PS5)
He remake of Silent Hill 2, developed by Bloober Team, already has a release date. Players will be able to relive Konami’s survival horror nightmare on October 8, 2024. To celebrate, a new gameplay trailer shows us the good (and bad) of this game.
Monster Hunter Wilds (PS5)
After showing a small teaser at the end of 2023, Capcom has released the first trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds. Best of all: the video focuses on the gameplay of the next title in its iconic franchise. Monster Hunter Wilds will be available in 2025 en PS5, Xbox Series X|S y Windows PC.
Astro Bot (PS5)
The rumored Team ASOBI game is official. The studio leaves behind the impressive demos for PS4 and PS5 to focus on a completely new adventure. The first trailer of Astro Bot shows the gameplay in various scenarios. The game will be available on PS5 on September 6, 2024.
