Developed by Piranha Bytes and distributed by THQ Nordic, ELEX is an action RPG that passed without pain or glory after being released in 2017. This adventure is set in a post-apocalyptic world that mixes futuristic and medieval aesthetics. The story takes place in the middle of a war for the “ELEX”, a valuable resource that grants magical powers.
Who expected a sequel to be announced four years later? Anyway, that’s what they did through a film preview that confirms the return of Jax.
What will the story of ELEX II?
This installment will be a direct sequel to the 2017 game. Following the defeat of the Hybrid, the three main factions – Berserkers, Clerics, and Outlaws – have been disbanded and the Albs are no longer a threat. Even better, the Berserkers’ efforts to terraform the planet and cultivate the land have paid off. However, Jax —Protagonist of the first game— returns with the knowledge of a new threat that looms over Magalan. To save the planet and find your son, you must unite the factions against the invaders.
How will the gameplay of ELEX II?
Although the trailer does not reveal any gameplay, Piranha Bytes and THQ Nordic have confirmed some of the news that it will have ELEX II. As in the first game, Jax’s decisions will modify the story and his relationship with the NPCs. It has also been confirmed that there will be more freedom when exploring Magalan thanks to the addition of a rocket backpack.
