In August 2021, when Among Us was the most popular title in the universe, several games took advantage of the moment to introduce modes clearly inspired by Innersloth’s indie game. Among them were Call of Duty and his ‘Double Agent’ mode y ‘Fortnite with Impostors‘, a mode in turn based on the previous ‘clone’ of Among Us ‘the inner spy‘.
That mode turned out to be quite popular. But on August 30, 2022, just over a year after its premiere, it has been removed from the access lists to enter the infamous content ‘vault’. We can no longer play it as of update 21.50.
When this game mode originally appeared, it caused a bit of controversy when Victoria Tran, a community manager for Among Ussaid it would have been nice to have been able to do an official collaboration.
Regardless, the teams from the two games did communicate after that and remained on good terms. An official collaboration between the two games came when the characters of Among Us appeared as retro backpacks in Fortnite. These were given away to everyone who purchased the indie title or stars for it on the Epic Games Store. They could also be purchased separately.
What happened to the ‘Imposters’ mode of Fortniteinspired by Among Us?
According to the official statement from Epic Games, the mode was removed because “Development teams seek to focus on other projects”.
If you’re going to miss it, know that they’ve added Impostor prefabs and item galleries in Creative for you to use as you see fit.
