Goodbye to 128-player Breakthrough mode in Battlefield 2042 (update 4.1)

128player, Battlefield, Breakthrough, goodbye, Mode, update

There is no doubt that EA and the DICE studio are doing everything possible to improve their latest war game. Recently added voice chat and multiple improvements, but it’s time for the tough decisions. The latest update patch for Battlefield 2042which left it at version 4.1, said goodbye to the 128-player Breakthrough mode lobbies.

During the promotion of the game, EA bragged a lot about the ability to Battlefield 2042 on next-gen consoles to host 128 players in the ‘all-out warfare’ rosters: Conquest and Breakthrough. It seems that they finally realized that “more” is not necessarily “better”.

In the official update patch notes for version 4.1 of Battlefield 2042those responsible say they noticed that the value and impact of each player and squad was reduced due to the intensity and chaos of combat in Breakthrough mode. They decided that 64-player games offered a more tactical and less chaotic experience, so they left these lobbies. They also reduced the number of combat vehicles.

Battlefield 2042 got rid of the 128-player Breakthrough game mode

From now on, when you play Breakthrough, you will notice that the Hourglass, Rupture, and Renewal maps will only be available in their “small” versions. The Debris, Manifest, Orbital, and Kaleidoscope maps will still be available in their “large” versions, but with reduced player counts.

128-player lobbies will still be available for the Conquest game mode.
