The hackers who breached the systems Insomniac Games, a firm belonging to PlayStation Studios, have fulfilled their threat. Having ended the 7-day period they had given Sony to pay a ransom estimated at $2 million, hackers have leaked more than 1 million files. Among them, the games that the studio plans to release until 2033.
As reported Cyber Dailythe Rhysida ransomware group has released 1.67 TB of information stolen from Insomniac Games servers. This translates into more than 1.3 million files, which, in addition to confidential documentation linked to the company’s human resources area, include concept art, level designs, early versions of the gameplay of some titles and its launch roadmap for a decade.
If we focus exclusively on the games, one of the most important leaks corresponds to Wolverine. The title, which was announced in 2021 as exclusive to the PS5, stars in a good part of this leak. In fact, several X (Twitter) accounts have begun to post some clips which include an initial look at the game’s menu and some of its gameplay.
The curious thing is that, at the time of writing this article, the material has already been circulating on the social network for several hours. It is striking that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and Insomniac Games have not yet filed a copyright violation claim for Elon Musk’s platform to remove it from its servers.
According to documents released by the attackers, Wolverine would be the starting point of a trilogy of games X-Men. The first would arrive in 2025, as previous rumors indicated, while the remaining two would arrive at the end of 2029 and 2033, respectively.
Hackers leak Insomniac Games plans until 2033
But this is not all. Among the information extracted from the Insomniac Games servers would include slides that would reveal the actors who would lend their voices to the main characters of Wolverine. Liam McIntyre would play Wolverine, while Krizia Bajos It would be Jean Grey, Brett Gipson would play Sabretooth and Troy Baker (Joel in the games The Last of Us) would do the same with Sinister.
There is no doubt that the leak of information belonging to Insomniac Games is unprecedented. The documentation released by Rhysida indicates that the studio would launch a game dedicated to Venomas well as a third installment of the saga Spider-Man. Furthermore, it is mentioned that Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 y Wolverine would receive their respective ports for PC.
But not all of Insomniac Games’ plans for the coming years would be linked to Marvel productions. The company would also be working on a new delivery of Ratchet and Clankalthough we would have to wait several years before it reaches the public.
For now, neither Sony nor Insomniac Games have made public statements about the brutal amount of data that has been published on the web. In accordance with Cyber Daily, what was leaked corresponds to 98% of what was stolen from the studio, and is what has not been sold. If what the hackers indicate is true, the remaining 2% would have been auctioned to the highest bidder.
At the moment it is unknown what information would have fallen into the hands of the buyers, but it could be an even bigger headache for SIE. Especially if what has been marketed includes personal information of Insomniac Games workers and other people related to the studio.
