If you are a veteran player of this horror game series and enjoyed the original game in the past, you know that James Sunderland’s nightmare can end in several different ways. The 2001 title had five endings (six in the version Restless Dreams) and the remake adds two more. In this guide we are going to tell you how to get all the endings of Silent Hill 2 Remakeboth old and new, without spoilers.
Before continuing, we invite you to read our game reviewthe guide to all your puzzles and that of the strange photos.
old endings
The following endings are the same as those in the original version of Silent Hill 2 (Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams in the case of the UFO ending) and the conditions for removing them are virtually the same. That means that Obtaining the endings Abandonment, Mary or In the Water depends on the amount of “points” we make towards each one.
In the description of each ending we will list the actions that give us “points” toward that specific conclusion to the story. The other endings (Rebirth, Dog, UFO, Happiness and Stillness) depend on other conditions and, if we meet them, they “overwrite” the points we have for these three ‘normal’ endings and we will not obtain them.
Abandonment
- Use heals as soon as possible after being injured.
- Check Mary’s photo and her letter in the inventory more than once (if we have not met the requirements for other endings, it is not necessary).
- Do not check Angela’s knife in the inventory.
- Listen to the entire conversation in the long hallway of the Lakeview Hotel before the final boss.
This is considered the “default” ending and the easiest to get. By obtaining it we also receive the achievement or trophy Making the passes.
María
- When we are with Maria, let’s try to get as many conversations as possible (try to enter the Historic Center, try to enter the Baldwin Mansion, etc.). It is not necessary to get them all, but they “add points” when it comes to obtaining this ending.
- When we are with María, we must prevent her from receiving too much damage from enemies.
- When she gets sick at Brookhaven Hospital, visit her room multiple times (at least twice, once after getting one of the doorknobs and once after getting the key to the ceiling).
- In the mirror riddle at the Lakeview Hotel, we must put the ripe apple and not the bad apple.
- At the end of the game, we choose the door in which we put the Scarlet Egg.
If we aim to obtain this ending and not the other normal endings of Silent Hill 2 Remakewe also recommend not performing the tasks that we indicate in this guide that “add points” to the other endings, such as listening to the entire conversation in the final hallway, checking Mary’s photo, the letter or the knife in the inventory.
If we get this ending we also receive the achievement or trophy Vicious circle.
in the water
- We must maintain low health (“in red”) as long as possible.
- Constantly check Angela’s knife in inventory after obtaining it from the Blue Creek Apartments.
- In the mirror riddle at the Lakeview Hotel, we must put in the bad apple and not the ripe apple.
- At the end of the game, we choose the door in which we put the Rusty Egg.
- Listen to the entire conversation in the long hallway of the Lakeview Hotel before the final boss.
If we aim to obtain this ending and not the other normal endings of Silent Hill 2 Remakewe also recommend not performing the tasks that we indicate in this guide that “add points” to the other endings, such as reviewing Mary’s photo, the letter or visiting María in the hospital.
After obtaining this ending we will also get the achievement or trophy The only way out.
Renaissance
To achieve this ending, we must first have passed Silent Hill 2 Remake with any of the previous endings in this guide and start a New Game +. To get it we have to get four objects that only appear in this game mode:
- crimson ceremony: We find it on top of one of the graves near the beginning of the game, in the cemetery where we first meet Angela.
- white chrism– At the entrance to the Baldwin Mansion in South Vale (west). We can take it when we are with Maria.
- obsidian chalice: On a wall in the Silent Hill Historical Center, to the right of the Pyramid Head painting.
- Lost memories: Inside the Lakeview Hotel’s “lost and found” box near the end of the game.
If we have the four objects after defeating the final boss of Silent Hill 2 Remake we will obtain the ‘Rebirth’ ending and the achievement or trophy death defiance regardless of the points we have to get another ending.
Dog
To achieve this ending, we must first have passed Silent Hill 2 Remake with any of the endings and start a New Game +. To get it we have to get two objects that only appear in this game mode:
- Part of a broken key (1): Inside the Pet Center on Neely Street in South Vale (East).
- Part of a broken key (2): When we are with María in South Vale (West) we look for a door with a drawing of a bone on the north side of Katz Street. Inside there is a dog house in which the key is hidden.
With the dog key What we get by combining the two parts, we can open the Observation Room at the Lakeview Hotel and see this fun ending without needing to fight the final boss. It will also unlock the achievement or trophy The nicest boy.
If we also achieve all the other four previous endings, we will get the achievement or trophy Celebrate like it’s 2001.
UFO
The ending added in the version Restless Dreams of the original game is also in the remake of Silent Hill 2. we must have passed Silent Hill 2 Remake with any of the endings and start a New Game + to take it out.
When we get to South Vale (East) we look for a store called Jewelers on Neely Street, just north of Big Jay’s Restaurant. We break the window on the left and take the Blue Jewel.
Now we have to interact with the jewel from the inventory in the following parts of the map:
- In it roof of the Saul Street apartments in southern South Vale (East).
- In it Rosewater Park Pierwhere we meet Mary for the first time.
- After getting off the boat in the Toluca Lake.
- In it room 312 of the Lakeview Hotel.
If we do it correctly, the Blue Jewel will shine brighter each time we use it and we will get the UFO ending when using it for the fourth time. We will also receive the achievement or trophy conspiracy.
new endings
The two new endings of Silent Hill 2 Remake They can only be obtained in mode New Game+. That means we have to have finished at least one of the old endings before we can see one of these.
Happiness
In the mode New Game + We are looking for two special objects.
- rusty key: Fast forward to meeting Maria and visiting Pete’s Bowl-O-Rama in South Vale (East). We open it using the code 1887 which we obtain from a corpse near the Historical Center of Silent Hill.
- [Spoiler]: We’re not going to tell you what it is so as not to ruin the surprise for the fans, but we get it in the garden gazebo of Brookhaven Hospital. There is a chest there that we can open with the rusty key.
When we reach room 312 of the Lakeview Hotel at the end of the game, we use [spoiler] before playing the video and we will get this ending.
Stillness
Just like the first of the new endings of Silent Hill 2 Remakewe can only get this ending if we play in the mode New game+but there is another requirement: we must have gotten the end in the water. The first of the objects needed for that ending will only appear if we have already seen that conclusion.
- key of regret: After picking up the electric saw at the sawmill, we advance until we reach Wiltse Street and we will see a light green car. We break the window with the electric saw and take the key.
- Postcard from Toluca: We arrive at the director’s office in the ‘other world’ version of the Lakeview Hotel and we will find a safe that we open with the regret key and the code 314.
After getting the postcard, we check it in the inventory and continue on our way. After defeating the final boss we will obtain the last of the endings of Silent Hill 2 Remake that we list in this guide.
