One of the main attractions of PlayStation 5 is the possibility of playing at 60 animation frames per second (‘frames per second’ or fps) or taking advantage of ray tracing technology. So many were disappointed to find that, in some cases, they have to choose between one of the two. The console, despite its power, could not support both at the same time. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was a good example of this, but now it’s a nice exception.
Insomniac Games has released a new update for the game that brings it to version 1.007.001. We don’t know about the official patch notes yet, but we did notice an interesting new option. If we go to the options menu Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we will find that we can choose a third option in ‘Graphics’: RT performance (Performance RT).
Previously, there were only two options: Fidelity, which allowed you to enjoy ‘ray tracing’ technology and more pedestrians on the streets of the game at 30 fps, and performance, which canceled the ‘ray tracing’ and allowed to play at 60 fps.
Now, RT performance allows us to enjoy Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales with the best of both options. The so-called ‘ray tracing’ offers us better light effects and reflections without losing the fluidity that playing at 60 frames per second gives us. It seems that to achieve this there will be a lower density of pedestrians and a lower resolution, but it is a good compromise.
These options are obviously not available in the PS4 version. You can read our review of this title here.
