Overwatch Classic Mode Brings Back 6v6 Matches Temporarily

Much has been made about the considerations Blizzard is making in bringing back the original six-player team composition to its popular shooter title. While they decide what to do, we can enjoy again Overwatch as it was in the old days thanks to the new ‘classic mode’ that allows us to play Overwatch 2 with the original heroes, skills and maps in 6 vs. 6 games. It will be available for a limited time.

You can watch the video of this celebration of the old way of playing below.

Overwatch classic mode will be available in Overwatch 2 for a limited time only from noon from Tuesday, November 12 to Monday, December 2, 2024. This mode is separate from current considerations of returning the game to a 6v6 format, meaning that later on there would be a permanent way to play with six-player teams.

What is the Overwatch Classic game mode like?

The idea is to return to playing Overwatch as it was in May 2016 when it was initially released. That means that We will only have the 21 initial heroes available, their original skins and the first maps of the game.

Visit the game’s official blog for more details on what will be available.

We believe this mode is going to be very successful, as players have long expressed that they are not happy with the current state of the game and want to return to happier times. Maybe they could convince Blizzard to make this mode permanent.
