The world economy is not at its best and that is already affecting the world of video games. Sony PlayStation announced the price increase of the PlayStation 5/PS5 console in various regions of the world, including Europe and Latin America.
According to a statement published on the official PlayStation blog, the main reasons behind this price increase are the high levels of inflation worldwide and the devaluation of various currencies.
Because of this, the PS5 console will be more expensive. Below you can find out the new ‘recommended value’ in Mexico, Spain and the rest of Europe. The official recommended prices of PlayStation 5 for Colombia and other countries in our region were not announced.
- Spain (Europe)
- PS5 with disc drive – $549.99
- PS5 Digital – $449.99
- Mexico
- PS5 with disc drive – MXN $14,999
- PS5 Digital – MXN $12,499
It must also be taken into account that many sellers in Colombia use the prices dictated by independent importers, which usually depend directly on the value of the dollar. The PS5 price did not have an increase in the United States.
