But, despite that, Cyberpunk 2077 became the most successful video game launch of 2020 and is an absolute best-seller.
In an official statement for its investors, released on December 22, CD Projekt Red reports that sold about 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077 between 10 and 20 December. This number represents the units sold physically, the digital ones and subtracts the refund requests made by the players who are not satisfied with the state of the game.
This number exceeds Animal Crossing: New Horizons
It seems that, despite all the scandal, CD Projekt Red is not going to be much affected financially. The game runs much more stable on PC and next-gen platforms, representing a considerable number of players who were probably satisfied with Cyberpunk 2077 and they made it a success. The company also promised to improve the status of the versions for PS4 and Xbox One through updates that will be published throughout January and February 2021.
