The Thing: Remastered is in development and will be released at the end of 2024 on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC, as announced by Nightdive Studios. The original 2002 game was developed by Computer Artworks and is based on the 1982 John Carpenter film. It is a third-person survival horror shooter. Through the KEX engine, Nightdive increases resolution and frame rate, while enhancing character models, textures and animations with advanced 3D rendering, for updated lighting and atmospheric effects.

In The Thing: Remasteredplayers step into the shoes of Captain JF Blake, the leader of a United States Army Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the grisly events that happened in the original movie. Trapped by the elements and at risk of being infected by this horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive, earning their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don’t take over them…or himself.
Lead a squad of up to four non-playable characters from the Soldier, Medic, and Engineer classes through the game’s 11 terrifying levels. Someone in your squad may not be who they appear to be. The shape-shifting alien is hiding inside a knockoff, so stay alert. Earn the trust of your squad members and minimize their fear levels so they don’t become defiant or, worse, succumb to paranoia.
