Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templarscreated by Charles Cecil, marked a pinnacle in 1996 for point-and-click graphic adventures of the time, when Monkey Island was only on its third installment. Revolution Software manages to recreate the first game of the franchise in portable format for a Nintendo console, if we remember the good adaptation of the first title for Game Boy Advance in 2002, expanded as Director’s Cut years later for Nintendo DS and also Wii.

Revolution Software confirmed the release of a version for Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, macOS, Linux and Windows titled Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars ReforgedThe remastered title will be available on September 19, 2024. This updated version is based on the original and not the Director’s Cuttherefore it is unchanged and not expanded. You can easily switch between the new graphics and the original ones.

In this completely reimagined and re-imagined version of George and Nico’s original adventure, players will be able to enjoy the atmospheric avenues of the French capital, the mysterious mountains of Syria, the sunny coast of Spain and stunning locations in between. Backgrounds have been redrawn from Don Blooth’s original drawings and sprites have been reanimated. Audio has been enhanced to offer new levels of fidelity to dialogue and the legendary soundtrack composed by Barrington Pheloung.

The new story mode redefines gameplay for a modern era, dynamically balancing narrative and gameplay progression.
