The developer Firewalk Studios, part of the independent ProbablyMonsters, has been acquired by Sony – who already worked with it – to develop a not yet announced multiplayer title.
“We have had the privilege of working with ProbablyMonsters and Firewalk Studios for several years and our teams share the same passion for creating meaningful experiences for players”manifesto Hermen Hulst, director of PlayStation Studios.
The 2018-founded company has yet to release a game, but this partnership with Sony hopes to deliver its first big release.
Regarding the acquisition, Jim Ryan, CEO and President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated: “Firewalk Studios is led by a world-class team that is highly experienced and deeply passionate about creating exceptional multiplayer games that create memorable shared experiences.”
“I am confident that the studio’s future project will be a robust addition to the PlayStation Studios portfolio, and their expertise in games-as-a-service technology will be instrumental in helping to grow the reach of PlayStation.”he concluded.
According to Sony, Firewalk is the 20th studio to join PlayStation Studios.
This news is in addition to other recently announced acquisitions, such as that of Sega to Rovio and Epic to Aquiris.
