Sony may have mistakenly confirmed the name of its rumored updated version of the PlayStation 5 (PS5 Pro) before its official unveiling. An unlisted video on the official PlayStation YouTube account was found to be titled “PS5 Pro.” The video has since been retitled “PS5 Technical Presentation by Mark Cerny.”
This tech presentation will stream on YouTube at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET and will last for approximately nine minutes. The unlisted video is a brief teaser of the presentation, showing the PS5 logo, the text “the journey continues,” followed by dates and times. While Sony hasn’t officially released the topic of the presentation, the title of the video confirms that the tech presentation will be about either a PlayStation 5 Pro or PS5 Pro.
Anticipation and speculation about the PS5 Pro has been mounting in recent weeks. After Dealabs leaked a purported design in August, Sony itself may have teased the console refresh in a PlayStation 30th anniversary image earlier this month. The “Pro” name comes from the previous-gen PS4 Pro console.
The console’s exact price and technical specifications are still unknown. In March, leaked specifications and a report from Digital Foundry claimed that the PS5 Pro would have a more powerful GPU and improved ray tracing. In early September, one analyst speculated that the Pro model would cost $650 and that the base PS5 would not see a price cut.
