There are so many horror video games on the market and we’ve tried so many of them that we’re a little desensitized to the fear they can provoke… but there are some that still give us goosebumps. One of them is The Mortuary Assistanta terrifying game from Darkstone Digital that came out on PC in 2022 and will finally be released for Xbox and PlayStation consoles in 2024.
This title is considered by the press – this editor included – as “the most chilling horror game of all time.” Not only because of the sudden scares it offers, but because it knows how to create an absolutely terrifying atmosphere and has an innovative system that ‘learns’ from the player to create horror.
In this game we control a medical assistant who is locked in an autopsy room at night. Not only must she perform autopsies on the bodies that arrive at the morgue, but she must also discover if they are possessed and exorcise them. As if that were not enough, she must fight against a demon that stalks her and wants to stop her from working.
The version of The Mortuary Assistant Coming to consoles along with an update for existing versions will be the ‘Definitive Edition’. This includes new features such as new scares, an endless game mode, new corpses and a special event that will occur every February.
The Mortuary Assistant It will be released for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X|S on Friday, August 2, 2024. It is also available now on PC and Nintendo Switch. Give it a try and you’ll see that we’re right when we say it’s “the most chilling horror game ever.”
