EA and Motive revealed the official launch window for Dead Space Remake: early 2023. The announcement was made during an official broadcast focused on offering new details about the title. Among them, we have a new sound technology, the ALIVE system; and some features that will be of great importance during our games, such as the character dialogues, the breathing and heart rate.
In addition, both companies took the opportunity to share new videos with gameplay of the remake of Dead Space. In them we can see the new graphic and playable section. However, according to its creative director, Roman Campos-Oriola, the title is still in a premature state and what we see “not representative of the final version
“.
We want to be sure that what we offer lives up to the expectations of the fans. We have in mind its launch during the beginning of 2023.

The new details behind Dead Space
Dead Space Remake is currently in state pre-alpha. This means that still is at an early stage of its development, so it requires multiple adjustments and corrections to become the final version of the game that, if all goes well, will be released during the first months of 2023. As we already mentioned, Roman Campos-Oriola, its director creative, has made it clear that what we see might not be in the final version; so the game will improve in many aspects as time goes by.
Likewise, Philippe Ducharme, its senior producer, anticipates that the game will be playable “from start to finish” in just a couple of weeksalthough in state pre-alpha, of course. For this reason, he has stated that they believe they are in “a solid position to be able to do the proper polishing, the proper debugging and meet the date we have in mind.”
There has also been talk about the ALIVE system. These are sound effects and gameplay that will affect the game depending on the state of the protagonist, Isaac Clarke. As read in PC Gamer
when the character was running, hurt or straining in the original game, “modified audio effects played over the normal breathing audio.” In this way, two simultaneous sound channels were generated.
Now, however, Isaac Clarke will have “transitive breathing rhythms,” so his rhythm will vary more smoothly. Therefore, the ALIVE system of Dead Space Remakeplans to simulate the human limbic system, the part in charge of controlling emotional and behavioral responses; As EA has commented.
When watching a scary movie or playing a scary game, the limbic system can trigger a release of adrenaline in the body, causing a physical response such as increased heart rate.

EA and Motive want to recreate a realistic experience
Terry Calico have also commented on the factors that will influence the gameplay of Dead Space Remake. As he comments, the state of Isaac Clarke during his adventures on the USG Ishimura will directly affect the gameplay; while events within the title will also impact the character’s state on a constant basis.
In our game, adrenaline is derived from various values driven by external factors that have a direct influence on the BPM of Isaac’s heart rate. The external factors that act as adrenaline are the combat difficulty value, script events and scares, Isaac’s fatigue level, oxygen level, and health. We want Isaac to mirror how any person would physically react in the setting he’s in.
