On December 1, PlayStation confirmed something we learned days ago thanks to a leak: that the PS Plus games of the month will be Godfall: Challenger Edition (PS4/PS5), Mortal Shell (PS4) and Lego DC Super-Villains (PS4). What we didn’t expect was that one of them was an incomplete version.
According to the official PlayStation blog, the ‘Challenger Edition’ of Godfall which will include the subscription service will not have the single player campaign. Instead, you’ll have all three ‘endgame’ modes out of the box: Lightbringer, Dreamstones, and Ascended Tower of Trials. In the normal version of the game, these modes could only be unlocked by completing the campaign.
Community reaction to this news has not been positive. They are accusing of putting a ‘demo’ of Godfall on PS Plus, an incomplete version, and they think it’s a terrible precedent for what to expect from the service from now on. It is true that, for many, this is one of those games that ‘begins’ when the story ends, as the ‘endgame’ game modes are the ones where players spend the most time. But this is no excuse for not presenting the full experience on a subscription service that is promoted through the games it offers each month.
Others have extended criticism against PS Plus this month beyond this case, complaining that the version of Mortal Shell that will include is only the PS4 and not the native PS5. On social media, some players have “threatened” to cancel their subscriptions because of this.
And you, what do you think about the incomplete version of Godfall, without the campaign, which comes to PS Plus in December? We wait for your comments
