We recently introduced you to Newcastle, the new character that will join Apex Legends with the arrival of the ‘Saviors’ updateand it’s time to present the other great news that we will have next May 10: the changes to the Storm Point map that include the point of interest Slain Beast and the IMC Armories.
In the Newcastle reveal trailer we saw the appearance of a dangerous prehistoric sea creature that forced the legends to put aside their differences in order to defeat it. Her corpse is now a new area of the map.
Point of Interest: Slain Beast
This is a high-tier loot location that connects three rotations: Northern Platform, Control Point, and The Mill. In the deployment we will see a large crane on a floating boat that is part of the ECHO structures that seek to “clean the place”.
The skeleton of the beast provides protection from air attacks and the gravity cannon here allows players to assess the top of the beast or quickly flee if the ring approaches.
The jaw and four combat wounds create large openings in the corpse that can be used to flank the enemy. Another option is to take the top of the beast as an elevated position of power to monitor nearby activity. Ziplines allow you to quickly take up a position on high ground to engage enemies from above and take them out. Be careful because several flying monsters fly over the location.
New IMC armories on the Stormpoint map of Apex Legends
According to the ‘lore’ of Apex Legends, IMC created the Stormpoint armories as automated combat support structures that remained underground. The beast’s attack caused the armories to activate and rise to the surface.
Inside them we will see a shipment of weapons and a button to access the loot. But as we saw in the Newcastle trailer, the armory will be closed to start a fight against several waves of specters. If we survive 60 seconds we will get the loot. The more ghosts we eliminate, the more loot we will receive.
Other map changes
- New stalker camp near the Cenote.
- Improved Stalker Camp southwest of the Mill.
- Improved spider’s nest with a stone arch north of the Command Center.
Don’t forget to take a look at the new trailer so you know what awaits you:
