Millions of users of FIFA 22 around the world voted for the best players from a list of 80 nominees to form the starting eleven of the Team of the Year 2022 (TOTY).

This lineup was revealed by none other than David Beckham:

Now yes, without further ado, we are going to meet the best players in FIFA 22 that make up the TOTY or Team of the Year 2022:

strikers

• Kylian Mbappé (FRA) – Paris Saint Germain: In March 2021, he became the youngest player of all time to score 100 goals in Ligue 1. In December 2021 he became the youngest to reach 100 goals for a single club (Paris Saint-Germain ).
• Robert Lewandoski (POL) – Bayern Munich: he scored more league goals than any player in Europe’s big five during 2021 (43). He set a new Bundesliga record in the process.
• Lionel Messi (ARG) – Paris Saint-Germain: he was named Best Player of the 2021 Copa América. He is the fourth player to win the award twice.

Midfielders

• Kevin De Bruyne (BEL) – Manchester City– Created 3.7 goalscoring opportunities every 90 minutes in the Premier League during 2021. The best rate of any player in the competition
• Jorginho (ITA) – Chelsea– Made 25 interceptions for Italy in the summer, the most recorded by any player in a single edition of the tournament.
• N’Golo Kanté (FRA) – Chelsea: he averaged 1.8 interceptions per 90 minutes in all competitions for Chelsea in 2021, the best of any player with at least 2,000 minutes played for the club during that period.

defenders

• João Cancelo (POR) – Manchester City– Completed more passes than any full-back in Europe’s top five leagues in 2021 (2,403).
• Rúben Dias (POR) – Manchester City: he finished on the winning side in 32 league games in 2021 (of 39 played), the most of any defender in Europe’s top five leagues.
• Marquinhos (BRA) – Paris Saint-Germain– Completed 2,901 of 3,131 attempted passes in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, more than any other player at the club.
• Achraf Hakimi (MAR) – Paris Saint-Germain: he had 151 touches in the opposition box in league games in 2021, comfortably the most of any defender in Europe’s top five leagues over the course of the year.

Goalkeeper

• Gianluigi Donnarumma (ITA) – Paris Saint Germain: he was named Player of the Tournament for Italy in the summer, the only goalkeeper to win the award.
