We recently found out that the recently added Nickmercs skin had been removed from the store. This happened a few days after being added due to unpleasant comments that the ‘streamer’ made on social networks attacking LGBTI people. Now it is the turn of TimTheTatman, whose ‘skin’ or operator package will also be withdrawn from the stores of Call of Duty: Warzone
The ‘skin’ inspired by Timothy John Betar, better known as TimTheTatman, was added to the in-game store along with Nickmercs on May 31, 2023.
A few days after the scandal that caused his colleague’s operator appearance to be removed, Betar was still streaming Call of Duty. On Saturday, June 10, he referred to the situation through a tweet in which he mentioned the official account of the franchise. This says “Nickmercs has been my friend for years and we will get our operators together in CoD. It feels bad to have mine and he doesn’t have his anymore. In support of my friend, please remove TimTheTatman’s package.”
Although the ‘streamer’ was careful not to mention his partner’s homophobia when requesting the removal of his ‘skins’, a part of the community argues that it is not worth making this sacrifice for someone who has proven to be a bigot. Another part of the community supports him and is trying to promote a boycott against Activision and the brand Call of Duty
At the time of writing, TimTheTatman’s bundle — which included the skin, two weapon blueprints, a finishing move, an emblem, the “waffles” charm, the “tactical cue” loading screen, and a penguin decal Kevin—is no longer available. Journalist Stephen Totilo of Axios reported via tweet that an Activision representative confirmed their Removal. “Per Tim’s request, we have removed the TimTheTatman Operator Pack from the store. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
This will surely only serve to further stir up this controversy. Those who have already purchased the ‘skin’ can keep it even after its removal from the store.
