Does No Man’s Sky is it going to stop surprising us one day? It seems not. Not only does this title get big updates that keep adding massive amounts of content and new mechanics, it sometimes adds “little” surprises. The most recent of these is a wonderful reference to one of the most important science fiction franchises in video games: Mass Effect.
From the second week of May, the most dedicated players of the Hello Games title began to participate in a long expedition throughout the galaxy without knowing what the objective was or the reward that awaited them at the end. The community finally managed to finish the Beachhead expedition and were in for a big surprise: they found the Normandy ship, from Mass Effect, on No Man’s Sky!
You can see the moment of discovery in this video, posted on Twitter by Sean Murray, director of the game.
But the appearance of the SSV Normandy SR1 ship is more than a simple nod or reference from the team of No Man’s Sky a Mass Effect. All players who complete the ‘Beachhead’ expedition by May 31, 2021 will be able to add Commander Shepard’s iconic ship to their frigate collection. Although they will not be able to pilot it, they will be able to send it on collection missions.
We know that Hello Games had permission from EA to include this reference in the game, something that serves as a promotion for the recently released remastered compilation Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.
