Although still we are not convinced that the fourth game of this franchise needs a ‘remake’, we cannot deny that there are elements of the original that can be improved. As an example we have the last third of the game. The military base on the island is widely considered the worst part of Resident Evil 4 and many began to believe that it could have been cut entirely from the ‘remake’. It’s true?
Although the final section of the game has quite a lot of story and memorable enemies, like Krauser and the regenerator, there is no doubt that the military base on the island is visually boring, repetitive and not well paced. It almost completely abandons puzzles and focuses on long action sequences that seem to go on forever. Capcom had already cut entire areas of the ‘remake’ of Resident Evil 3so removing a section from RE4 didn’t seem far-fetched.
But it won’t be like that. In an interview with the British magazine EDGE, the developers of the ‘remake’ of Resident Evil 4 They confirmed that the island will be in the game. Of course, it seems that they are aware of the criticism against this section because they are committed to improving it. For the moment they limited themselves to saying that the island will have “much more”. They gave no further details.
The ‘remake’ of RE4 will go on sale on March 24, 2023. It will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X | S and for PC.
