In August 2022, Volition and Deep Silver launched the “reboot” of their popular open-world franchise, but things didn’t go quite right. The game received mediocre reviews and did not become a bestseller. we liked it, but we criticize its little originality, history and multiple ‘bugs’. Now, its creators ask players to give a second chance to Saints Row after the arrival of improvements and the free update Sunshine Springs and hope that it will “revive” the game in a similar way to what happened with titles like No Man’s Land y Cyberpunk 2077.
This free update is coming very soon and not only adds the new Sunshine Springs district to the Saints Row map, but it will add options to photo mode, UI, quality of life improvements, and make major changes to the combat system that should be make it more fun and less frustrating.
Some of the changes to combat will make enemies unable to dodge melee attacks, make it harder to get hit while crouching, make enemies easier to interrupt when they call for reinforcements, and enemies will have less health.
The update will be accompanied by the paid expansion The Heist and Hazardouswhich will add new story missions, cosmetics, and events.
But that is not all. Saints Row will receive more free updates with improvements and new content in July and August 2023, each accompanied by paid DLC with more story missions and game modes. Below you can see the content roadmap.
When does the free Sunshine Springs update come out for Saints Row?
This free update and the paid DLC The Heist and The Hazardous will be available for Saints Row from the Tuesday May 9, 2023. We’ll see if it actually improves it and more importantly, if we are facing another “video game redemption” story.
