XIII ‘Remake’ will receive another ‘remake’ from another developer

Developer, receive, Remake, XIII

When studios have a cel shading game, they have a product unaffected by the passage of time. The hateful term “hasn’t aged well” is unlikely to apply to these classics, mostly released in the first half of the millennium. Even so, to bring them to current platforms, the studios prefer to “modernize” them and the result is questionable. Such is the case of XIIIa lost gem from Ubisoft.

The ‘remake’ of XIIIreleased in 2020 and Developed by PlayMagic, tried to update this classic but they did not reach the public’s favor. Just two years away, distributor Microids has announced that this same version of XIII will receive another ‘remake’ with the hope that it turns out better.

The ‘re-remake’ of XIII would see the light on September 13 as a free update for those who own the game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The long-delayed version for Switch would also arrive on that date.

XIII and GameCube.

New features include a refined art style, improved AI, new HUD, remastered sound, 30fps framerate on Switch, 60fps on PS5/Xbox Series, and online multiplayer for 2-13 players.

“We are aware and terribly sorry that the initial release of XIII Remake on PS4, Xbox One, and PC it fell short of quality standards for gamers. A year ago we made the decision to hire the Tower Five studio to finish the development of the game. They worked with us in the past, adapting Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders for Switch,” said Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids.

The original ‘cel shaded’ version of XIII was released in 2003, loosely based on the graphic novel of the same name and developed by Southend Interactive and Ubisoft Paris.
