Hi there! I'm Stefan Gagne, author and project director at Fiction Factory Games. Today we are so excited to announce the release date of our visual novel, Arcade Spirits, coming to PlayStation 4 on May 1st!
Arcade Spirits is a downloadable game that takes place in another 20XX timeline, where the 1983 game industry has never happened and the arcades have never gone away. He joined the Funplex team, a small local arcade, made friends and found love with coworkers and gamers alike.
Along the way, you will meet a group of people who love various arcades, and be able to fall in love with any of them! No matter how you choose to create your own character, all romances will be available to you – or not, if you choose a friendly story. We got that, too! Our approach to other people means that everyone is happy, no matter who they are.
Funplex plays host to a host of actors, starting with Naomi, a mousy fix-it techie who loves contemporary arcade Classics. Then you have Gavin, a tough but sensitive accountant, who keeps the rest of the process going. Joining you in solving problems in the arcade is Ashley, this shy, happy mascot, whose imagination sometimes escapes her.
But an arcade wouldn't be a game without games, would it? This is where we find Theo, who is fashionable and selfless, running a local community of dance masters. You will also meet Percy, a warm-hearted analyst, driven by the ultimate promise to fill the world record. And it will be hard to remember QueenBee, the hottest star in arcade esports, who broadcast her Fist of Disaster matches from the center of Funplex daily.
Unlike most visual novels, you will often be asked to make decisions; build your personality and your relationships based on your chosen actions. The subject matter is subject to change and agreement based on your decisions. How will your story end? How will you overcome the challenges ahead of you to keep your arcade alive and thriving? In your choice. We hope we have made the experience of the subject more appealing, rather than letting you sit down and read for hours. So be yourself, express yourself!
All of this comes with a turbo retro-80s inspired sound that will leave your head tilted and touch your toes. The music changes to suit the mood of the event – it can be a bright and happy moment, or if you think you may have lost everything. Let stripes and strings serve as your guide, as you explore this unprecedented future, neon and drown in Nostalgia.
We hear that Arcade Spirits is a great game for anyone with neon love and pixels, tokens and tickets.
