Sega broadcast its first Sonic Central to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the franchise with various announcements. As such there will be two new titles and several more that are released on other platforms. The most striking title is the return of Sonic Colors with what seems to be a remaster with which it will be called Sonic Colors Ultimate.
The original installment was released on Wii and DS in 2010 and received rave reviews. Now it’s back, as it had leaked a month ago, and will be on all platforms (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC) on September 7. Along with this installment there will also be an animation called Sonic Colors Rise of the Wisp that will debut this summer.
Sonic is back
Other novelties include a new compilation installment called Sonic Origins, Sega did not explain it in detail but the name and the shared image make it clear that the new title comes with the most classic Sonic games. It was also announced that Team Sonic Racing, Sonic Mania, and Sonic Forces will be coming to Amazon Luna and PS Now (and not Stadia oddly enough).
It was also revealed that Sonic The Fighters, a classic fighting game with Sonic and company, will be playable within Lost Judgment, the new SEGA game that will debut on P S4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and Switch on the 24th. of September. The title is an open world title in the third person, but we can visit an arcade room to play this game.
Lastly, a main course was expected and Sega delivered to some extent. A teaser was revealed with a Sonic running in a forest, suddenly there was slow motion and certain effects were seen that implied the presence of technology in his speed technique. Shortly after the hedgehog ran and disappeared and we could see a date “2022”. So we will have a new AAA Sonic game next year.
