Shady Part of Me may have gone unnoticed yesterday as it was revealed and released at the same time at the Game Awards preshow. It was one of the few titles that was released at the same time, so few have had the time to play it.
But apparently it is worth it, the title immediately draws attention for its artistic style that takes advantage of the chiaroscuro to represent a kind of mental journey of a girl with her only companion, her own shadow.
Indie by surprise
Curiously in Metacritic we get more reviews of its PC version than those of other platforms such as Switch and PS4, but the truth is that no note falls below 80/100. The media praises his artistic style that varies in its 3D levels and puzzles.
And it is that Shady Part of Me has areas that are played in classic side scrolling and others in a 3D similar to that of some Metroidvania that many prefer to call 2.5D. In addition, the level and puzzle design has received good feedback for the right level of difficulty and the variety of mental challenges.
As a counterpart we have that the title receives criticism for the story, it is not that it is bad but it is very vague, so it is difficult to understand what you do and why.
Shady Part of Me hurts around 6 hours and there are more than 100 collectibles that encourage a second round, so we have in our hands an indie game for one player with a simple premise and that meets what is proposed. It also has the vocal presence of Hannah Murray (Gilly in Game of Thrones).
