Greetings PlayStation community! I am Félix, marketing manager at Sloclap. It’s been almost a year now since we first revealed Sifu during State of Play in February 2021. It’s been a wild ride for the whole team and we’re all very excited for the launch of Sifu.
For the last pre-launch PS blog post, we wanted to give you some tips from the team to help you on your way to revenge.
We know Sifu is difficult. Of course, the difficulty is relative to the player, and we know that some of you will have no trouble getting your revenge! But for those who might need a helping hand, the team has compiled a short list of tips and tricks that will come in handy in tough situations.
Overall Progress Tips
Learn and practice your two defensive moves: Parry and Avoid
They are both essential to overcoming encounters in the game. Learning the timings early will help you a lot in later fights, take the time to practice both mechanics.
Find shortcuts and explore
By going through a level and exploring, you will unlock keys that will give you access to very effective shortcuts. Use them to quickly return to boss fights. You will also find hidden rooms and weapons that can be very useful.
keep calm and carry on
Even if you think your character is too old to complete the game, going deeper in levels will allow you to unlock more skills and secret paths. You can revisit previous hideouts later, once you know the game better, to improve your finish age.
Boss fights
Observe and learn first
Don’t be too aggressive at first. Focus on defending, blocking and dodging attacks, to gradually learn boss patterns.
Look for windows of opportunity in their diagrams
Bosses will often give you the ability to counterattack during their attack cycles, often at the end of a pattern. Successfully evade or parry and immediately counterattack.
Don’t try to brute force or cheese the encounter
Bosses will be very strong against overly aggressive behaviors, button mashing, or effective tactics against normal enemies (crowd control, etc.). Fight smart!
Battle groups
Don’t get surrounded by enemies
Even the most basic thugs will be deadly if there are a lot of them attacking at once. Dodge and jump over obstacles before being cornered or surrounded.
Use your crowd control techniques
Use techniques such as pushbacks and rollovers to thin out the herd. Throwables are also very effective tools for stunning and disabling enemies.
Prioritize your targets
Armed enemies are particularly deadly, take them out quickly to both lower the threat level and take their weapons for yourself. Stronger enemies have special health bars (silver and gold) – Might be easier to isolate them before facing them.
We hope these tips help you on your way, and we can’t wait to hear how you’re doing. Let us know how you are doing.
Finally, we wanted you to know that part of the team behind Sifu is already working on post-launch content. We have exciting plans for free content updates which we will be able to tell you more about soon! Stay tuned for more and enjoy your experience with Sifu!
