Sony has published the fiscal report for the period that spans April 2020 to March 2021 and the results could not be better considering the context. Sony has 58.6 million copies of exclusive games in that period and this counting on the PS4 and PS5 titles. This represents 17% of all games sold on these consoles (338.9 million copies sold)
On the other hand, according to analyst Daniel Ahmad, Sony would have spent 1.3 billion dollars in its research and development department, that is, both in the creation of games, such as consoles and other technologies that represent its business as such. Interestingly, Sony raised $ 1.3 billion with just two mobile games: Fate / Grand Order and Disney Twisted Wonderland.

The brand spreads
For its not enough, the PS4 sold 5.7 million copies in the same period and reached 115.9 million copies and finally will not reach the PS2 (152 million), but it does remain as the second best-selling desktop console in history and the third of all the history behind PS2 and Nintendo DS.
For its part, the PS5 has 7.8 million copies sold, which is slightly higher than the 7.6 million copies of the PS4 in the same period. These could be many more, but the semiconductor shortage crisis has affected distribution and sales capacity.
Having said all this, Sony’s plans are to continue doing what it has been doing. It will bet aggressively on the exclusives with more investment and with this it hopes to achieve even more sales than the previous year. And it is that all these games will continue to be sold this year and will soon be joined by Returnal, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon Forbidden West and God of War: Ragnarok.
