Spotlight on the characters of Atelier Sophie 2, out February 25

Atelier, characters, February, Sophie, Spotlight

Sophie Neuenmuller has been such a magical character to me since we first introduced her six years ago in Atelier Sophie: The Mysterious Book Alchemist, and I know many fans reading this feel the same. . When I was thinking about what we could do for the 25th anniversary of the Atelier series, I thought of a game that retains the Atelier vibe of the series but is also an evolution of the series, and I had the idea for Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream – to bring back Sophie as the protagonist. This game immerses Sophie in a mysterious and dreamlike world as she embarks on a heartwarming adventure to find a lost friend, and I think it’s a great story and adventure that our passionate fans have been waiting for.

Along her journey, Sophie encounters a collection of characters who join her quest, both in storyline and in battle. We’ve changed things up a bit with battles this time – for the first time in the Atelier series, combat starts seamlessly with no load times or split screens. In Atelier Sophie 2, battles consist of up to six party members who are divided into two teams: the assault team which consists of the three members at the front and the rescue team which consists of the three rear limbs. While there are times when characters can be moved between teams during battle, each character has their own strengths and weaknesses to consider for placement in battle.

Before the game hits PlayStation 4 on February 25, I wanted to give everyone a quick look at the six key characters, showing how each of them complement each other in battle.

Sophie Neuenmuller

The leading lady of the title, Sophie, is an alchemist. His playstyle is suited to using items and assisting allies in combat. Her passive skills increase her resistance to status effects and allow her to recharge the power of any item she uses – so it’s best to use crafted alchemy items. Most of his skills consist of magic attacks, with a few allowing him to empower his allies. His health and defense stats are pretty low, but his MP and speed stats are higher to account for that.

Navigate

Also an alchemist, Plachta is adept at using items, especially with debuff effects that can be upgraded. Her skills primarily focus on inflicting status effects on enemies, making her excellent at hampering enemies. Her health and speed stats are low, but she’s a rather unique character as she has a mix of high MP and defense. You’ll want to make sure Plachta is close at hand to whittle down the abilities of very tough enemies.

Ramizel

The last alchemist on the team, Ramizel is a versatile character with a high attack and well balanced stats. She not only uses skills that boost her physical attacks, but can also restore her allies’ health and reverse their status effects. Like our other alchemists, she is well suited to using items, with a specialization in support. He’s an invaluable character to have on your team to ensure the party is kept healthy.

Fins

Alette may have weak attack skills, but she makes up for it in speed. His skills allow him to make an effect last for several turns and allow him to play both attack and support roles. I suggest trying her out as both an attacker and a supporter to find out how she works best for you.

Olias

Of all the party members, Olias has the highest attack stats. As an attacker, his passive skill increases his attack stats each time he defeats an enemy. Like Plachta, he is good at inflicting debuffs on enemies, but with reduced potency. I recommend assigning Olias as a damage dealer, along with other characters healing and buffing him.

diebold

Last, but not least, is Diebold. This tank has higher health and defensive stats than other characters, but its MP and speed are lower. Its high defense helps it resist attacks that would crush other characters. It can even pull enemies in and reduce their attack strength when in close proximity. Diebold acts as a great damage-absorbing shield in battle, but make sure other characters heal him.

For me, experimenting with the different battle formations and character setups is one of the most fun new aspects of the game. I’d love to hear fans talk about their favorite setups when Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist releases. of the Mysterious Dream next month. I can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction to Sophie’s big comeback.
